Braised Five Spice Powder Pork Belly with Rice

Very Easy aromatic braised pork belly. Few minutes of preparation time.

Main ingredient:

  1. A square piece of pork belly with skin on.

Rub the pork with the following ingredients and marinate for around 1 hours :

  1. Generous amount of five spice powder (approx 1-2 tbs depending on the size of the pork),
  2. Salt and pepper
  3. 1 piece of fermented tofu
  4. 2 tbs oil
  5. 1-2 tbs garlic paste

When the pork is ready, pour 500ml of water to a pot and immerse the pork in the water. Add 2 star anise, 1 bay leave, 1 dried chili, 1 tbs oyster sauce, 1 tbs dark soy sauce.

Bring water to boil, and cover the pot and cook the pork for around 45 minutes in low heat. Turn occasionally.

Serve with rice.  To make the rice, you need some cooked sushi rice, chopped spring onion, carrot and generous amount of dried coriander. Mix all the ingredients together with rice.
